Celtic need to strengthen in numerous positions across the pitch in January. A new left-back was on top of most fans' Christmas wishlist this time around. Greg Taylor has failed to match the form that he showed while playing in Ange Postecoglou's system. On the other hand, Alexandro Bernabei's situation has not improved since last season, as he remains out of the first-team picture.

Thus, the club could certainly do with a new left-back. Someone who can get into the starting XI from the get-go or at least challenge Taylor for the spot.

Owen Beck is someone that Celtic have been linked with in recent times, as have the Rangers. But it looks like any possible move will depend on the situation of Andy Robertson.

As reported by DaveOCKOP, Celtic and Rangers want to sign Beck on loan. Should Robertson return before the end of January, it is believed that both Glasgow giants will compete for the 21-year-old's signature.

Beck spent the first half of the season on loan at Dundee FC, where he was very impressive. But he has been called back by Liverpool since then.

Liverpool are light on options at left-back at the moment due to their injury problems. Robertson is out on the sidelines, having undergone surgery not too long ago. On the other hand, Kostas Tsimikas was recently injured as well.

To be honest, it feels unlikely that Robertson will return to action this month, making a loan move for Beck unlikely. Never say never in football though.

Someone like Beck could be a solid addition for this Celtic team. He is already proven in the Premiership and looks like someone who can compete for a starting spot. Pulling off a move in January will be difficult though.
