Celtic-linked player to be released by Tottenham Hotspur

Celtic have been linked with a number of players in recent years without bringing many of them to Parkhead. It looks like one such player is set to be available as a free agent this summer as he is set to be released by Tottenham Hotspur, after having made just a solitary appearance for Ange Postecoglou's side this season.

That player is none other than Ryan Sessegnon. Once one of the brightest talents in world football, his career has not gone according to expectations since his move to Tottenham Hotspur.

It is not due to a lack of talent though. Sessegnon's biggest problem has been his never-ending injury problems, which have kept him out of action for significant lengths of time. And now, at 24 years of age, he is set to be without a club.

As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, Sessegnon will leave Tottenham Hotspur as a free agent. There is plenty of interest across England and Europe for him, but the player's preference is to stay in the Premier League.

Celtic have been linked with a move for Sessegnon plenty of times over the years. But at this point in time, it might be too big of a risk to consider bringing him to Parkhead.

Sessegnon has a lot of untapped potential for sure. But his injury history means that it is very difficult to take a risk on him, even as a free agent.

If Sessegnon were ready to join on a one or two-year deal then a move would make sense. It remains to be seen how things play out for him this summer but it does look like there is plenty of interest in his signature and he should not have much problem finding a new home.
