Celtic-linked player could leave Manchester United next summer
Celtic have been linked with a number of high-profile players in recent years. But when it comes to major additions, there have been few, if any to speak of. The club have instead decided to focus on making project signings. The aim is clear, to develop and improve them over the next few years before moving them on for significantly higher transfer fees.
Unfortunately, it has not worked out as well as they would have hoped over the last few years. And the results on the pitch have suffered too, which is the most important thing for a club of Celtic's magnitude.
One can only hope that the recruitment strategy changes next summer. And amidst this, it looks like one high-profile player Celtic were linked with not too long ago, could be set to depart Manchester United soon.
As reported by ESPN, Manchester United are prepared for a squad clear-out in the summer in order to help speed up progress on the pitch. There are question marks over the futures of as many as eleven first-team players. One of them is Scott McTominay.
Celtic-linked player could leave Manchester United next summer
Celtic were heavily linked with a move for McTominay last summer but nothing materialised. And it is hard to imagine that that would change in the near future.
McTominay is actually having the best season of his career at Manchester United right now. He has scored many vital goals for the club and it is actually surprising that he is one of the players they could be open to letting go.
If Celtic were able to sign McTominay, it would be a major coup. But it is hard to see them being able to match or even close to his wages or the transfer fee Manchester United would most probably seek for his potential exit.
