Celtic legend takes cheeky dig at Rangers' Fabio Silva

Considering how the Rangers' results have gone recently, one cannot help but think that the league title race would have been over for all intents and purposes if Celtic had come out of Ibrox with a win. That had looked like the most likely outcome for quite a while as well as the Hoops were cruising at 2-0 up but a penalty awarded to Philippe Clement's side in the second half ended up changing the momentum of the match.

Ultimately, the game finished 3-3. Of course, the penalty and the manner in which it was awarded came under heavy scrutiny.

Fabio Silva went down in the box and was initially handed a yellow card for simulation. But then, after a VAR check, the decision was overturned and a penalty was handed to the Rangers instead.

It did not make much sense. Even if there was contact, it was minimal at best. And even more importantly, Alistair Johnston was the one who won the ball. Silva was called out for 'diving' by a lot of people.

Sutton was someone who was called 'biased' for his commentary in the recent Glasgow Derby. Well, the Celtic hero has now gotten another chance to take a dig at Silva.

It was an incident that took place in the recent Scottish Cup semi-final between the Rangers and Hearts. Silva was played through on goal by Cyriel Dessers and had nothing to do but tap it into an open net. But the Portuguese loanee went down instead under absolutely no pressure and no defender even close to him.

Retweeting a clip of the incident, Sutton made a tongue-in-cheek comment as he wrote:

""People who say Silva dived here are biased… that’s a penalty""

To be honest, it is hard to say what Silva was trying to do there. Perhaps he just could not sort his feet out. Or was he expecting contact and did not realise no tackle was coming?
