Celtic legend among favourites for Premiership job
It is always interesting to see Celtic legends make their transition from the pitch to the dugout. A lot of former players tend to give management a try. Some succeed, others don't. That is the nature of the game. One Hoops hero is doing a pretty good at the moment though and that has seen him being linked to a Premiership job.
Ayr United have made a great start to the season. They currently sit atop the Scottish Championship table, having not lost any of their first seven league games and picked up 15 points in the process.
That has only boosted Scott Brown's reputation as a manager. And it seems to have put him in the running for the St Johnstone job.
As reported by The Courier (via Glasgow Times), Brown is being named among the potential candidates to take over as St Johnstone manager after the club parted ways with Craig Levein last week. Aberdeen first-team coach Peter Leven and Northern Irish title-winning manager Tiernan Lynch also seem to be in the running for the job.

Brown has made a great start to the season with Ayr United. Now, it looks like a Premiership job might be available to him but he needs to be careful about his next step.
The Scottish Premiership is not the best place to be a manager these days, unless you are at Celtic. It feels like a constant revolving door, with managers coming and going regularly.
As a result, Brown has to be sure that he will get time to prove himself at St Johnstone. He cannot afford to end up at the relegation contenders and then be shown the exit door soon afterwards if results do not pick up. That will hurt the managerial reputation he has built up at Ayr United.
