Celtic leading race to sign £35 million player on loan
Celtic need to strengthen in the January transfer window. That has become pretty clear due to their performances and results in recent weeks. Not only do they bring in quality players but those who can arrive and make an immediate impact, because the Hoops are now well and truly in the middle of a title race. In fact, it is the Rangers who have all the momentum following their Scottish League Cup win and Europa League knockout stage qualification.
Most Celtic fans would like the club to sign proven players in January. But the Hoops continue to linked with highly-rated youngsters.
As reported by O Jogo, Celtic and Rangers are at the forefront of the race for Fabio Silva. Wolves are ready to send him out on loan again.
Wolves signed Silva from FC Porto for a transfer fee believed to be around £35 million in 2020 after he had made only 21 appearances for the Portuguese club. And it is a move that has not worked out, with the forward scoring just 4 Premier League goals since then.

Silva was considered one of the best young talents in world football while coming through the youth ranks. But he certainly has found the going tough at the senior level.
That does not mean that things could not work out for him at Celtic Park. Just look at how well Jota did during his two seasons at Parkhead.
That being said, is Silva the reliable striker that Celtic need right now to score goals consistently with Kyogo and Oh Hyeon-gyu both struggling? He is not. The Portuguese youngster has scored some goals while out on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven, but not enough to convince that he is the answer to Brendan Rodgers' problems.
