A lot has been made about Celtic's transfer strategy in recent times. Overall, the Hoops have signed a lot of players in recent windows but very few of them have been able to make a positive impact on the team. And it is clearly an area where the club need to improve as soon as possible. It is not their only worry though.

Almost equally concerning is the club's inability to promote their youth standouts to the senior team. Who was the last to make that jump and enjoy success?

The answer is probably Kieran Tierney and it has been many years since that happened. Since then, the likes of Mikey Johnston, Anthony Ralston and Stephen Welsh have been in and around the first-team but none of them can be considered success stories at the senior level till now.

Thus, this is another area where Celtic need to improve. And on a positive note, they have been successful in agreeing a contract with one of the club's most promising youngsters.

As reported by Celtic's official website, Calvin Keenan has signed his first professional contract with the club. It runs until December of 2026.

He arrived at the club's academy back in January of last year and he had previously been at Ayr United. The youngster has quite clearly impressed people with his development and performances since then, earning himself his first professional contract as a result.

We can only wish him the best moving forward. Hopefully, he can continue to develop his game and one day become a regular in the senior team.

That might be quite some distance away for Keenan though. He is only 15 years of age and it is important that he continues to enjoy his football for the time being.
