Jurgen Klopp has done a fantastic job as Liverpool manager, since joining the club in 2015. For many years, the English giants had struggled to compete for the biggest honours on a consistent basis and silverware had dried up. The German has guided them back to the top of world football. But he has decided to leave Anfield at the end of this season, bringing an end to a legendary run. Could a Celtic hero replace him?

Celtic were dealt a major blow in the summer when Ange Postecoglou decided to leave for Tottenham Hotspur. The move has paid off for the Australian though, as he has proven his mettle in the Premier League and is now being considered one of the top managers in the world.

It is no secret that Postecoglou grew up supporting Liverpool. The Australian has been a fairytale ride since being appointed Celtic boss in 2021. Will it all lead to the Anfield hot seat?

As reported by SEN, Andy Maher said on SEN The Run Home:

"So, this is what I've received today with a, ‘Take it to the bank’, right.

“I'm not going to mention who it is (but the message reads), ‘Postecoglou's manager Frank Trimboli has formally received “an invitation to discuss his potential interest in the Liverpool Football Club managerial position”."

Maher's source does have a solid record. in the past, he has given correct information about Postecoglou leaving Yokohama F. Marinos for Celtic and then his move to the Premier League.

On paper, it makes sense for Liverpool to consider Postecoglou as a potential replacement for Klopp. The Australian has turned a struggling Tottenham Hotspur team into winners despite their injury problems. And he has done so while having his side play some of the best football in all of Europe.

Of course, most consider Xabi Alonso to be the favourite for the Liverpool job, once Klopp leaves. But then, the Spaniard is not proven in the Premier League nor does he has the experience of someone like Postecoglou.
