There has been a ton of speculation surrounding Celtic in recent months. The club are heading towards an important summer transfer window and are expected to make plenty of signings. One of the players, who has been once again linked with a return to Parkhead, is none other than Kieran Tierney of Arsenal.

The Scottish left-back departed the club in a Scottish record move in 2019 to join Arsenal. He has had an up-and-down in London and currently finds himself out of Mikel Arteta's first-team plans and on loan at Real Sociedad.

Naturally, there is speculation about Tierney's long-term future, as many expect him to leave Arsenal on a permanent basis soon. Celtic have been suggested as a potential destination for him.

Celtic are expected to have a tough time matching any transfer fee that Arsenal would want to part ways with Tierney. At the same time, his wages could be an issue as well. And one also needs to consider that plenty of Premier League clubs will probably be interested in signing the Scottish left-back, if he was available in the summer.

Tierney has been tipped to eventually return to Celtic one day to finish his career. As reported by Glasgow World, Tam McManus said on PLZ's Football Show:

"I think he will finish his career at Celtic. I don’t when it will be. Whether he wants to come back now in the peak of his career, I am not sure.

“His heart is at Celtic. He had to go, obviously Arsenal and the money that was on offer, but I think he will come back at some point and finish his career at Celtic."

One major problem with any move for Tierney would be his injury history. The Scottish left-back has dealt with fitness issues dating back to his time at Celtic and the situation has never really gotten better.

He has done well whenever playing for Real Sociedad. But unfortunately, Tierney's participation has been limited owing to multiple injury problems and he has ended up missing more games than he has played. So, there have to be serious question marks over how long his career will be.
