It is no secret that Celtic need to sign a goalkeeper this summer to be their new first-choice between the posts after Joe Hart retired at the end of the previous campaign. The Englishman had been the Hoops' number one for the past three years and won seven trophies during that period of time. Whoever arrives at Parkhead will have big boots to fill for sure.

Celtic have been linked with a long list of goalkeepers in recent times. And now, it looks like another option might be reemerging for the club.

Celtic had been linked with a move for Horatiu Moldovan not too long ago. The Romanian international ended up joining Atletico Madrid instead.

Unfortunately, it has not been smooth sailing for Moldovan since then. The 26-year-old has not made a single appearance for Diego Simeone's so far and despite joining them just last winter, he is already seeking a move away.

Moldovan has publicly talked about his desire for an exit. As reported by the Daily Record, he said on Romanian podcast Tare de tot cu Viorel Grigoroiu:

"I want to leave Atletico Madrid in the summer or winter. I don’t know if I’ll leave now, because it depends on what I do at the Euros with Romania. It depends on the opportunities that arise. But I definitely want to leave to play."

Celtic were said to have an interest in signing Moldovan before he ended up joining Atletico Madrid. Could they try to make something happen this summer, with the club in need of a goalkeeper and the player looking to leave?

It might be the perfect opportunity for both parties involved. Now, it remains to be seen if anything materialises.

It is quite clear that Celtic have been keeping an eye on several other goalkeepers as well. One can only hope that they get the recruitment right and bring someone in who is capable of taking Hart's place between the posts. Nobody wants to see a repeat of the Vasilis Barkas situation from a few years ago.
