Celtic want former Chelsea and AC Milan goalkeeper on free transfer
Celtic will need to sign a goalkeeper capable of starting from the get-go as the club's first-choice for the past three seasons, Joe Hart, will be retiring at the end of the campaign. The Englishman might have had his fair share of critics but nobody can deny what he has brought to Parkhead since joining in 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur, both as a player and as a leader. It will not be an easy task to fill his gloves, that is for sure.
It will not just be about bringing in a good goalkeeper to take Hart's place between the posts but also someone who has top-level experience. And interestingly, it looks like a former Chelsea and AC Milan player is on their radar.
As reported by talkSPORT, Asmir Begovic is a target for Celtic. The Hoops are looking to bring in a new No.1 this summer and have already moved ahead with their plans to replace Hart, with the experienced goalkeeper on their shortlist.
Begovic is 36 years of age and is currently the starter for QPR in the English Championship. His contract there is set to run out in the summer though.

Begovic has a wealth of experience under his belt. He started his career at Portsmouth and played the majority of his football for Bournemouth and Stoke City. But he also had spells at top clubs like Chelsea and AC Milan.
Begovic was a regular feature at the international level as well. He made 63 appearances for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, even playing at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
With all that being said, it is hard to imagine that Celtic fans would be impressed if Begovic turned out to be Hart's replacement. They are expecting and hoping for someone who would be a long-term solution between the posts, like Caoimhin Kelleher or Anthony Patterson, not a veteran goalkeeper who will do a solid job for a year or two.
