Celtic are always on the lookout for the brightest young talents from all over the world. In fact, most fans believed that they should move some of their focus away from making 'project' signings and bring in some experience and proven quality to Parkhead. It remains to be seen if that will happen or not.

If there are special talents available, Celtic should not pass up on the chance to sign them though. Recently, one player they have been linked with is Luke Baartman of Cape Town Spurs.

Still just 17 years of age, Baartman has already played senior level football for Cape Town Spurs and even scored for them. Other than Celtic, Leeds United are another club who have been linked with the South African wonderkid.

But as reported by SNL24, Celtic are yet to formally approach the player’s camp to discuss a possible move. Or even assess whether he would be keen on making the switch to the Scottish Premiership.

Baartman does seem like the type of player Celtic would be interested in signing. He has shown flashes of quality and appears to have the potential to grow into a top level player if his development goes according to plan.

It is very possible though that Celtic are focusing on adding some quality to Brendan Rodgers' squad in the January transfer window. The manager has made no secret that his team needs it.

Baartman might be an exceptional talent but he is not someone who could come in and make an immediate impact at the senior level for Celtic. He will surely take some time to adjust to European football and a lot will depend on how his development goes as well.

It remains to be seen if Celtic make a move for Baartman in the future. Of course, one should keep an eye on Leeds United in the transfer race for the South African wonderkid.
