It is not easy to succeed at a club like Celtic. The pressure is there on managers to win almost every game domestically. That means that if a player is not performing consistently, it is more than likely that they will slip down the pecking order and might never make it back into the first-team fold despite their unquestionable talents.

One such player who had a less than remarkable career at Celtic is Lewis Morgan. He joined the club in early 2018 from St Mirren.

Expectations were high from Morgan but he was never really able to showcase his quality on a consistent basis. Over his time at Parkhead, he managed just two goals and eventually left for the MLS in 2020.

Morgan would first join Inter Miami before moving to New York Red Bulls. It is there that he finally seems to have found his feet and is one of their key players these days.

Morgan put in arguably the best performance of his career recently, as he scored a hattrick against the high-profile Inter Miami team. It is worth pointing out that Lionel Messi did not play on the day.

But that does not mean that Morgan was not playing against some absolute legends of the game. Luis Suarez, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, all played the entire match but could prevent a 4-0 defeat at the hands of New York Red Bulls.

Seeing Morgan's performances in the MLS, many might wonder if Celtic gave up on him way too early. But to be honest, it might have never worked out for him at Parkhead. It is good that he has found a place for himself where he is shining and hopefully he continues to do so for years to come.
