It looks like Celtic have finally come to life this season, even it took till the end of February. There were signs in that late display against Motherwell. And the Hoops completely played Dundee FC off the park in the first half of their meeting at Parkhead. Brendan Rodgers' side scored six times, with each coming from a different goalscorer.
Cameron Carter-Vickers marked his return to the starting XI with the opener. That was followed by goals from Adam Idah, Matt O'Riley, Daizen Maeda, Greg Taylor and Callum McGregor.
It would be safe to say that we have not seen this kind of a performance from Celtic all season. The fact that it has come against a decent Dundee FC team is even more cause for optimism.
It will be interesting to see if the Hoops can continue performing like this moving forward. Or if it proves to be a one-off display and we are back to underwhelming displays in future games.
Celtic finally come to life in six-star display vs Dundee
What this performance will do is give the supporters a much-needed boost. There has not been much to be happy about this season so far. But this display will have them believing that Rodgers has finally found the answer to his problems.
What exactly was that answer? Was it playing a target man like Idah, who can covert all those crosses that the Hoops tend to play? Was it having a direct winger like Yang Hyun-jun in the line up? Was it giving a bit more freedom to the full-backs? Was it the return of a leader like Carter-Vickers? Or perhaps a combination of all of them.
Hopefully, things continue like this moving forward. It has been a while since we saw Celtic play like this. Long may it continue.
