Celtic are in the driver's seat in the Scottish Premiership title race as we head into the second phase of the league season. It is far from over though and the Hoops cannot afford to lose focus for a second. All the upcoming matches have to be considered as must-win by the club. And in the very next one, they will have to do something that the Rangers could not just last week.

Celtic will need to go to Dens Park and get a positive result against Dundee FC. A goalless draw is all the Rangers could manage there recently, which helped build up the Hoops' lead.

Celtic will be looking to avoid dropping any points away at Dens Park though. But the fans have not been impressed with the Scottish FA's appointment of referees for the game.

As reported by the Scottish FA's official website, John Beaton will be the referee for Dundee FC vs Celtic at Dens Park. Andrew Dallas will be on VAR duty. David Roome, Dougie Potter, Peter Stuart and Graeme Leslie are the four other officials who will be involved on the day.

It is not hard to see why Celtic fans might not be impressed with Beaton refereeing another one of the club's games so soon after taking charge in the recent Glasgow Derby at Ibrox. Unsurprisingly, his performance was a topic of discussion coming out of that match.

A penalty awarded to the Rangers on the day was a controversial one to say the least. Initially, Beaton had handed a yellow card to Fabio Silva for simulation, which seemed like the right decision.

But he then ended up overturning his decision with the assistance of VAR. Instead, the Rangers were handed a penalty despite the fact that there was minimal contact at best and Alistair Johnston had won the ball too.
