The January transfer window is now closed and unfortunately for Celtic fans, it was nowhere what they had expected coming into the new year. The club made two signings, one permanent and another on loan. Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah are the two fresh faces at Parkhead and hopefully they will make a difference in the second half of the season.

One major disappointment about the recently closed transfer window was Celtic not signing a left-back. That was considered the bare minimum by many and the club did not even meet that expectation.

Things could have turned out differently if Owen Beck had not made a late substitute appearance for Liverpool against Bournemouth though. It meant that he could not play for another team this season, having spent the first half of the campaign at Dundee FC.

Soon, it became clear that he did not have a clear role at Liverpool. And despite being linked with Celtic, he now finds himself back on loan at Dundee FC.

The thing about the Beck situation is that how meaningless, in the grand scheme of things, that appearance against Bournemouth turned out to be. Liverpool were already winning the game easily and it was just a run out in the park for the youngster.

If Beck had not made that appearance, it is possible that Celtic could have tried to sign him late in the window. But that was unfortunately off the table.

Of course, at the end of the day, it is up to Klopp, when it comes to who he wants to play and when. Celtic do not and should not have a say in that. If there were indeed any plans for the Hoops to make a move for Beck, they should have adjusted and had the time to do so.
