Celtic fans were never going to be happy after losing 7-1 to Borussia Dortmund and they should not be. There had actually been some measured optimism leading up to the game that the Hoops could get a result away in Germany. Nuri Sahin's side had struggled defensively while Brendan Rodgers' team were flying high, having won all nine of their games. The Scottish champions are yet to concede a goal in the league this season.
Unfortunately, they conceded seven against Borussia Dortmund in one game. On another day, the German side could have scored a few more.
It was an unforgettable night for Celtic fans for all the wrong reasons. Unfortunately, it has been the case far too often in recent years. Last season's 6-0 defeat against Atletico Madrid comes to mind.
Yet, Brendan Rodgers does not seem to be keen on changing his team's approach in Europe despite the manner of defeat against Borussia Dortmund. And those comments have not gone down well with some Celtic supporters, who let it be known on social media.
I will not offer Taylor a new contract, I will not buy defenders from Sheffield, I will not buy reserves from relegation teams, I will not spend money on players who can only play in domestic games

What makes him think we can go toe to toe with these teams? We have to go there with a defensive mindset and if we get them on the break great.

You would like to think this result would be humbling for him, but nothing has really changed since the last time he was here. Still the bold arrogance. You can't play the same way against top opposition as in the league and expect to get the same results...

Celtic fans unhappy with Brendan Rodgers' comments after losing
Well, that's life as a Celtic manager. One day you are the best in the world, the next there are question marks about your ability.
In all honesty, Rodgers has done a decent job since returning. But there have always been question marks over his ability to deliver at the Champions League level. He has not achieved it anywhere else either, even Liverpool.
Celtic need to emulate some of the underdog teams that have done well in the Champions League in recent years. In most cases, they have done it through a pragmatic, that's the word of the week, approach. Even back when the Hoops were getting the better of teams like Barcelona, Manchester United and AC Milan in Europe, it was not like they were playing them off the park.
