Matt O'Riley's future at Celtic Park is in doubt with some of Europe's best teams interested in signing him. Atalanta are believed to have made multiple offers for th Danish midfielder already. On the other hand, he has also been linked with clubs such as Juventus, Brighton & Hove Albion, Inter Milan and plenty others.
O'Riley remains a Celtic player and does not seemto be pushing for a move away, as he is starting regularly. But the club might be open to parting ways with the midfielder if a Scottish-record bid did arrive on their table.
If O'Riley were to leave, the club would need to bring in a quality replacement to take his place in the team. The Danish midfielder has been the Hoops' best player for a while and is an integral part of Brendan Rodgers' system.
Celtic have been linked with a few midfielders lately. Wataru Endo of Liverpool, Arne Engels of FC Augsburg, Tanner Tessmann of Venezia and several others appear to be on their radar. Now, it is time to add another name to that list.
Celtic eyeing Swiss midfielder to replace Matt O'Riley
A Swiss midfielder has been linked with a move to Parkhead as well. As reported by the Daily Mail, Celtic have identified Lausanne's Alvyn Sanches as a candidate to replace O'Riley.
Sanches is 21 years of age and has been a decent contributor for his current club. He clearly does not have the efficiency or numbers of O'Riley at this point though.
Sanches is also not proven at the highest level. In that regard, someone like Engels might be a better option if Celtic have one eye on the future. He has played a decent bit of Bundesliga football already and is not far away from getting into the Belgian national team picture.
