Celtic eyeing move for Scotland's most in-form player
Celtic have brought their season back on track to a certain extent over the past few weeks, winning some games on the trot including a Glasgow Derby. But they cannot forget how much this team was struggling not too long ago and there is a clear need to strengthen the squad in this January transfer window.
One area where they could certainly need reinforcements is striker. Kyogo has come up with some important goals lately but his overall form has not been impressive this season.
On top of that, he is the only option Celtic will have up top soon, with Oh Hyeon-gyu selected for the AFC Asian Cup. So, do not be surprised if the Hoops try to sign a striker this month.
As reported by HITC, Celtic will consider a move for Lawrence Shankland. Brendan Rodgers is a fan of the player. Everton, Sheffield United, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Hull and Middlesbrough have also watched him closely in recent weeks.
Celtic eyeing move for Scotland's most in-form player
A move for Shankland won't be popular amongst the entire Celtic fanbase. But nobody can deny that he is the most in-form player in Scotland right now.
Shankland has scored 7 goals in his last 6 matches. He has found the back of the net against both Celtic and the Rangers on multiple occasions in the ongoing campaign already. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has registered 18 goals and 3 assists in 28 appearances.
At 28 years of age, Shankland is in his prime as a footballer. Also, due to his extensive experience, he should not need much time to adjust to life at Celtic. On paper, someone like the Hearts captain would be perfect for the Hoops. Let's see if they do end up making a move in January.
