Celtic's search for Joe Hart's replacement this summer has seen them being linked with different kind of players. It is not hard to understand why. The Englishman brought quite a few things to the table. He was a solid performer between the posts for three years. Also, he was the most experienced player in the squad and a leader of the team.

Finding all those attributes in one player is not easy. Especially when you working under the budget constraints that Celtic are.

Every day, a different goalkeeper appears to be linked with Celtic. This time, it is the turn of Newcastle United's Martin Dubravka.

As reported by the Daily Record, Celtic are eyeing a move for Dubravka. Brendan Rodgers believes the Newcastle United goalkeeper can do a similar job at Parkhead as Hart did over the last three years.

Of course, a lot of fans would not be impressed by the idea of signing a 35-year-old goalkeeper to replace Hart. That simply is not long-term thinking.

At the same time, one could make the case that it is better to sign a proven veteran option if the club are not convinced that the right long-term goalkeeper is available for transfer this summer. It is a matter of perspective.

It would not be a simple task to sign Dubravka. Clubs in Europe and beyond are believed to be interested in the goalkeeper.

Dubravka has had an interesting career for sure. He was 29 by the time he made the move to Newcastle United. He also found himself on loan at Manchester United in the 22/23 campaign.

Now, could the Slovakian goalkeeper's career take him to Celtic at 35 years of age? Time shall tell but as we all know, never say never.
