There appears to be a lot of activity around Celtic at the moment. The futures of Matt O'Riley and Kyogo seem to be uncertain. The former has been linked with a number of Europe's top clubs. The latter is drawing the interest of arguably the world's best club, Manchester City. There are quite a few other players heading for the exit door as well.

Yuki Kobayashi is set to play his football in Portugal moving forward. On the other hand, Gustaf Lagerbielke is believed to be closing in on a move to SC Heerenveen of the Dutch Eredivisie.

It would be a surprise if Celtic do not bring in some defensive reinforcements before the summer transfer window closes. Both centre-back and left-back seem like areas that could do with some strengthening.

Interestingly, they are being linked with a player who can feature in both those positions. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Celtic are interested in signing Auston Trusty from Sheffield United.

Celtic eyeing move for former Arsenal centre-back

It was just last summer that Trusty left Arsenal to join Sheffield United for a transfer fee believed to be around £5 million. The Blades were not able to avoid relegation though and find themselves back in the English Championship.

Trusty is capable of playing both as a centre-back and a left-back. It is very possible that Celtic could be eyeing someone with the ability to fill both roles, just like Liam Scales, rather than sign two players.

He has represented the United States at the international level on a couple of occasions. So, one would think that Cameron Carter-Vickers knows him well already.

Interestingly, Trusty was linked with the Rangers before he joined Sheffield United. Now, he could have the chance to move to Glasgow to represent a team playing Champions League football.
