Celtic eyeing former Rangers player on free transfer
Celtic need to sign a goalkeeper, or perhaps even two, in the summer. Joe Hart has been the club's number one since joining in the summer of 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur and has done an admirable job, both as a player and as a leader. The Englishman has already announced his decision to retire at the end of the season though.
That means that Celtic will have a new number one between the posts next season. On top of that, there is a lot of uncertainty surrounding the future of Benjamin Siegrist as well, with the Swissman barely featuring since his move to Glasgow in 2022.
Unsurprisingly, Celtic have been linked with a variety of goalkeepers in this situation. And a former Rangers player's name seems to have been added to the neverending list.
As reported by the Daily Mail (via Football Scotland), the manager is a fan of Liam Kelly. He is also very well known to goalkeeper coach Stevie Woods from the Scotland set-up.

Kelly came through the youth ranks at Rangers. At 28 years of age, he finds himself at Motherwell. His current deal is set to run out in the summer though, meaning he could be available for a free agent.
That might be a great opportunity for Celtic to make their move, if they are convinced that he is the right player to replace Hart in goal. It is worth mentioning that Kelly has made one appearance for the Scotland national team as well.
While Kelly would not be a blockbuster signing by any means, he has the potential to be shrewd addition to this Celtic team. It remains to be seen whether they end up making a move for the Scot or trying bringing in someone else.
