With less than a week left in the summer transfer window, Celtic have a lot of work to do. Of course, the priority has to be replacing Matt O'Riley, with the Danish international set to join Brighton & Hove Albion in a Scottish record deal. The Hoops have been heavily linked with Arne Engels of FC Augsburg and Mateusz Bogusz of Los Angeles FC in recent days.
That is not the only area in need of reinforcements though. There has been talk of the club needing to strengthen at left-back and centre-back all summer, while also requiring a third striker to cover for Kyogo and Adam Idah.
They had been linked with Hugo Bueno of Wolves before he moved elsewhere on loan. There are rumours of them having an interest in signing Owen Wijndal as well.
But it looks like a Liverpool left-back is atop their wishlist. As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are “doing everything they can” to get a deal done for Owen Beck.
Celtic doing everything they can to sign Premier League defender
It is believed that Liverpool want a transfer fee in the region of £3 million to part ways with Beck. One would think that that figure should not be an issue for Celtic, but there are several other steps to getting a deal done as well.
Beck has been on Celtic's radar for a while. A move was heavily talked about in January as well but ultimately, it did not materialise.
Beck knows Scottish football well already, having spent the previous season on loan at Dundee FC and he was quite impressive there. That experience should help him if he were to join Celtic this summer. Someone like him could be good competition for Greg Taylor at left-back, who has been the undisputed starter there for several seasons now.
