Celtic confident over transfer move for former Chelsea ace
Celtic are expected to make multiple signings in the upcoming summer transfer window. While a double is still a possibility for Brendan Rodgers' side, it would be a mistake to ignore their inconsistent performances and results over the course of the campaign. There is a clear need for strengthening moving forward.
Most of the transfer headlines have been about potential goalkeeper signings and it is not hard to understand why that is the case. Celtic need someone to take Joe Hart's place in the squad, as the Englishman will be retiring at the end of the campaign.
That being said, other areas are in need of strengthening as well. One of them is their defence. Cameron Carter-Vickers has dealt with injuries throughout the season while there are question marks over whether Liam Scales is a long-term solution at centre-back.
Jake Clarke-Salter is someone who has been linked with a move to Celtic recently following an impressive season with QPR. And there is a positive update regarding that potential move.
Celtic confident over transfer move for former Chelsea ace
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are “confident” of meeting Queens Park Rangers’ transfer asking fee for Clarke-Salter this summer. The Hoops are confident of agreeing a deal with Champions League windfall coming.
It would take a significant figure to sign the former Chelsea centre-back. As tweeted by John Percy earlier this month, Clarke-Salter's transfer fee is likely to be £5 million to £7 million.
Someone like Clarke-Salter could be a solid addition to this Celtic team. But there is going to be plenty of competition for his signature as well, with Premier League clubs rumoured to hold an interest in signing him too. So, it remains to be seen what the future holds for the QPR centre-back and where he ends up playing his football come next season.
