Celtic captain responds to Todd Cantwell's controversial comments
Both Celtic and the Rangers will have everything to play for this weekend at Parkhead. If the Hoops win, or even draw, this Glasgow Derby, they will take a major step towards a third-straight league title. On the other hand, this feels like somewhat of a must-win for Philippe Clement's side, who are three points behind and don't have as good of a goal difference either.
Of course, when it comes to games of this magnitude, it is always important to control the middle of the park. Naturally, a lot of eyes will be on players like Callum McGregor and Todd Cantwell.
The pair were involved in an argument at Ibrox. And it will be interesting to see who comes out on top this weekend at Celtic Park.
It goes without saying that Celtic fans are not fond of Cantwell. And some of his comments about McGregor ahead of the Glasgow Derby had not gone down well with a large section of the support. Now, the club captain has responded to the Rangers player's claims.
Celtic captain responds to Todd Cantwell's controversial comments
As reported by STV News, Cantwell had said:
"I want to win just as much as he does – probably a little bit more."
McGregor smiled when told about the statement and replied:
"If that’s his opinion, then good for him."
Those statements pretty much show the difference between a veteran midfielder, who has spent his career winning everything in sight and that of someone who has rarely lifted trophies in his career. In many ways, it feels like the difference between the two camps going into the Glasgow Derby as well.
Celtic have appeared absolutely calm and composed, having experienced league-winning campaigns numerous times before. On the other hand, it does feel like the Rangers are feeling the pressure of the moment and the expectations going into the Glasgow Derby this weekend. Of course, only the result will matter when the two teams meet at Parkhead.
