Celtic will be very busy in the upcoming summer transfer window. At least that is what fans will be hoping for as the club are in clear need of strengthening even though they remain in contention for a Premiership and Scottish Cup double. And signing a new goalkeeper has to be at the top of their wish list.

Joe Hart will be retiring at the end of this campaign, bringing an end to a legendary career. The Englishman had joined Celtic in the summer of 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur for a transfer fee believed to be around £1 million.

Expectations were not high as most believed that Hart was well past his prime. The Englishman did end up proving a lot of people wrong, and has been Celtic's number one between the posts for the previous three seasons, doing a commendable job along the way.

So, Celtic will be left with big boots to fill. Not only has Hart been vital as a player but also as a leader. It remains to be seen who the club end up bringing in to take his place.

In the eyes of many, the dream goalkeeper to replace Hart would be Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool. The Irish international has been linked with a move to Celtic for a long time now.

Celtic's hopes of signing him might have been boosted. As reported by the Daily Mail (via The Sun), Liverpool “would likely not stand in Kelleher's way” if he wanted to go to become a number one elsewhere. The club have “retained an interest” in Sunderland’s Anthony Patterson.

So, it looks like Liverpool are already preparing for the possible scenario of a Kelleher exit. Now, it remains to be seen if Celtic end up making a push to sign him.
