Celtic make brilliant summer pre-season announcement
It has not been long since the 2023/24 season ended. And it was quite certainly a happy ending for the Hoops. At several points, things had looked shaky for Brendan Rodgers' side and them finishing trophyless seemed like a very real possibility. But they delivered when it mattered most, winning a Premiership and Scottish Cup double.
The aim at Celtic always has to be getting better though and there is plenty of room to do that. Despite winning a double, Rodgers' side were not always convincing domestically while improvement in Europe has to be a must.
Having a good pre-season could go a long way in helping this team take the next step forward. Celtic already have some high-profile games lined up this summer. And now, another match has been announced, although it will be against Scottish opposition.
As reported by Celtic's official website, the club will take part in a friendly match against Queen’s Park FC at The city Stadium on July 10. It’s the first meeting of the two Glasgow clubs since February 2009.
Celtic make brilliant summer pre-season announcement
Queen's Park currently play in the Scottish Championship, where they finished 8th last season. As a result, we have barely seen the two teams face each other in recent years. Their last meeting was in the Scottish Cup a decade-and-a-half ago.
It is always good to see Celtic take on teams that they do not face often, even if it might not be the most high-profile contest. It will be a good chance for Rodgers to assess the strength of his squad against Scottish opposition while it will be a big day for the Queen's Park players without a doubt.
Of course, the majority of the talk over the coming weeks and months will be about transfers and potential signings. Hopefully. Celtic have better summer recruitment than they did the last time around.
