It was a little over a year ago that Ange Postecoglou swapped Celtic for Tottenham Hotspur. It was a move that has had its ups and downs. The Australian started brilliantly in the Premier League but in recent times, it looks like some of the shine has definitely come off. The London club have four points from the same number of games this season, and lost to Arsenal in the derby last weekend.
Unsurprisingly, some are already raising doubts over the future of Postecoglou. And considering the lack of patience shown towards managers in the modern game, it is not hard to see why.
What is surprising though is that oddsmakers have placed Brendan Rodgers as the favourite to replace Postecoglou as Tottenham Hotspur boss. Thomas Tuchel and Gareth Southgate are also in contention.
Things are finally falling into place at Celtic for Rodgers, after what had been a difficult first season back. Would the Northern Irishman entertain the idea of an exit at this point?
Celtic boss tipped to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur
Of course, this is nothing for Celtic fans to be worried about. Oddsmakers say a lot of things. Most of them do not end up happening.
Rodgers already left Celtic in the middle of the season once in the past. And we already know how well that went down amongst the Hoops fans. It is hard to imagine that the Northern Irishman would consider doing the same thing to the club he grew up supporting once again. So, take the odds with a pinch of salt.
Of course, nothing should ever be ruled out in football. But Rodgers replacing Postecoglou for the second-straight year just does not feel very likely. Also, just look at how things have gone for managers like Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur in the past.
