Celtic have been in shaky form of late, dropping points against Kilmarnock and Aberdeen. They are now second in the Scottish Premiership table and need to go on a good run of form. Brendan Rodgers will surely be looking to get his side back to top spot over the coming weeks and months, and there is some good news in that regard.
As the Scottish Premiership enters its crunch time for the season, fortune could go in the way of Celtic. As mentioned, they need to get some good momentum going, but this will be helped by key players returning from their injuries.
Celtic boss receives Cameron Carter-Vickers injury boost
One player whom Celtic have missed in recent matches is defender Cameron Carter-Vickers. The centre-back with natural leadership qualities has become a real fan favourite during his time at Parkhead and is often one of the first names on the team sheet when he's available. The trouble is, though, he hasn't been available as often this season due to multiple injury problems.
According to a report from The Scottish Sun, Carter-Vickers was given the green light to restart training this week and is in contention for a return against Motherwell this weekend. It goes without saying that Motherwell away is a must-win game for The Hoops, so to have the defender back is a welcome boost for Rodgers.
As exciting as the injury return is, Rodgers may feel the need to be cautious. Carter-Vickers missed a significant period of time before his small return to action. Therefore, he may still require extra precautions. Even if he is only used as a substitute at the weekend, it will be great to see him back in the defence.
Carter-Vickers is in his third season for Celtic and should theoretically be entering the peak of his physical performance, at 26 years old. He has had to deal with constant injury problems lately though and hopefully, he can put them behind him for good this time around.
