Celtic boss admits what he thought of Nuri Sahin at Liverpool
One of the most interesting storylines heading into the Celtic vs Borussia Dortmund game is the history between the two managers. Brendan Rodgers was in the Liverpool hot seat when the club signed Nuri Sahin on loan from Real Madrid for the season. And it would be safe to say that things did not go according to plan.
Sahin did not feature much while at Liverpool. He was played in a somewhat unfamiliar role in midfield because the Reds already had Steven Gerrard playing in what would be considered the Real Madrid loanee's best position.
Ultimately, Sahin's loan stint with Liverpool was terminated in the middle of the season. He ended up at Borussia Dortmund on a temporary spell after that.
Sahin now finds himself as the manager of Borussia Dortmund. While he had been less than complimentary about Rodgers back then, he has gained a lot more experience in football and life, over the next decade or so that has followed. He has also seen the game from a manager's perspective. That has led to him changing his tune. But what does the Celtic boss think about his former player?

As reported by The Guardian, Rodgers said regarding Sahin:
"He loved his football, trained very well, was super professional and of course he left Liverpool and went back to Dortmund and I followed his career from there. It’ll be really good to see him when he’s making his first steps as a manager. He’ll now know the challenges of when you do manage and all the various things that come up with being a manager. So I’m looking forward to seeing him."
So, despite their history, both Rodgers and Sahin have been complimentary about each other leading up to the Celtic vs Borussia Dortmund game. That is good to see. Time is certainly the best healer.
This promises to be Celtic's biggest test of the season. Borussia Dortmund are a fantastic team and the Signal Iduna Park atmosphere is legendary. If the Hoops are able to come out of there with a point, or three, it would be one of their best results in Europe. Let's hope we get to watch some history being made.
