Celtic are expected to be pretty busy in the upcoming summer transfer window. One area where they might need to strengthen is midfield. While nothing is set in stone, it almost feels like a certainty that Matt O'Riley will be leaving. Atletico Madrid tried to sign him in the winter and he has also been linked with clubs like Manchester United and Inter Milan in recent times.

On the other hand, the future of Paulo Bernardo is clouded in uncertainty as well. He is only on a season-long loan from Benfica at the moment. Celtic have an option to sign him permanently but will they take it up?

Unsurprisingly, Celtic have been linked with quite a few midfielders in recent times. And their chances of signing Callum O'Hare of Coventry City have been handed a boost.

As reported by CoventryLive, Sky Blues reporter Andy Turner said when asked if there was an outside chance that O’Hare would sign a new contract and stay:

"I guess there’s always a chance but I would say that I think it’s unlikely, particularly now that there’s no chance of promotion, which was probably the one last hope of securing him on a new deal. You never know, if he doesn’t get the right offers from elsewhere in the summer he could always change his mind, but it does feel like the writing is on the wall on this one."

O'Hare came through the youth ranks at Aston Villa and was compared to Grealish. But he was not able to establish himself at the senior level there.

After a loan spell, he joined Coventry City on a permanent basis in 2020. He has done pretty well there, making almost a 150 appaearances for the club.

O'Hare suffered an ACL injury in December of 2022 and ended up out of action for the next ten months. Thus, most would have expected this to be a tough campaign for O'Hare. Instead, he has been in the form of his life since returning to the pitch in October of last year. According to Transfermarkt, he has scored 9 goals and provided 4 assists in 32 appearances and 1801 minutes of football.

O'Hare's current deal with Coventry City runs out in the summer. And while the club are not mathematically out of the play-off race yet, it would take somewhat of a miracle for them to make it from here.
