Celtic are yet to announce their first signing of the January transfer window but we have already seen quite a few exits take place. Yosuke Ideguchi was the first to leave, joining J-League champions, Vissel Kobe, on a permanent basis. The midfielder had impressed while on loan at Avispa Fukuoka and it felt like the right time to part ways.

That was followed by the exit of another midfielder, as summer signing Kwon Hyeok-kyu joined St Mirren on loan till the end of the season. He failed to even make his debut for Celtic in the first half of the campaign and hopefully a spell in Paisley will do him well.

Now, it is a defender heading for the exit. Adam Montgomery was recently brought back from Fleetwood Town, after his loan spell there did not go according to plan.

He won't be staying on at Parkhead for the second half of the campaign though despite the club's need for another left-back. As tweeted by Celtic's official account, Montgomery has joined Motherwell on loan until the end of the season.

Montgomery had played a fair bit of football early on in Ange Postecoglou's run as Celtic manager, when the club were dealing with injuries and a lack of options in a number of positions. Since then, his career has not played out according to expectations.

The loan at Motherwell is his fourth one over the past two years. One can only hope that he makes the most of this opportunity.

It is just one good spell you need to get into the team. Just ask Liam Scales. It is also worth remembering that Montgomery is still just 21 years of age and has plenty of time to find his feet in the senior game.
