Celtic announce match with Premier League giants
Celtic are heading into the business end of the season with it all to play for. It is not like the previous campaign when the league title was pretty much in the bag by this point in time. Instead, it is the Rangers who have the advantage right now. Philippe Clement's side are a point behind the Hoops, but have played a game less.
There are two Glasgow Derbies left to be played this season and they could prove to be vital in determining the destination of the league title. Celtic and the Rangers will meet in the Scottish Cup final as well if they can win their respective semi-finals.
Plans are already being put in place for the summer though. And we already know the identity of one team they will be coming up against in pre-season.
As reported by the club's official website, Celtic and Chelsea will face each other on July 27 at the iconic Notre Dame Stadium. The match is the last of three games for the Hoops on their USA pre-season tour this summer.
Celtic announce match with Premier League giants
Chelsea might not have been good over the past two seasons, but they remain one of the biggest teams in world football. This is a high-profile match for sure.
Despite the Blues' shaky form on the pitch, they do have some quality players. The likes of Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and more seem destined for the top if given the time to develop and the right conditions to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
Of course, that game is a long time away. Interestingly, the future of both clubs' managers is up in the air. It is hard to see Brendan Rodgers remain Celtic boss if the Hoops finish trophyless. On the other hand, Chelsea will surely be expecting Mauricio Pochettino to at least get them into European competition.
