Celtic already working on double deal for summer
Celtic need to strengthen in the upcoming summer transfer window. That bit is in no doubt. When Brendan Rodgers was brought back following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, the expectation was that the Hoops would continue being the best team in Scotland. After all, the Northern Irishman had guided the Hoops to seven out of seven domestic trophies his first time around at Parkhead.
Unfortunately, things have not gone according to expectations. In fact, there is a genuine chance that Celtic could finish this season without a trophy.
The Premiership and the Scottish Cup are still up for grabs. Hopefully, Rodgers' side will finish the season with some silverware. Then, the focus would have to turn towards rebuilding the squad, which has taken several steps back this season.
It looks like a couple of positions have been identified as priorities for the summer transfer window already. And it looks like it is on the defensive end that Rodgers wants his team to improve.
Celtic already working on double deal for summer
As reported by Football Insider, Celtic are looking to add a centre-back and new first-choice goalkeeper in the upcoming summer transfer window. It appears that a partner for Cameron Carter-Vickers in defence and a replacement for the retiring Joe Hart will be the priorities for the club in the off-season. The club have already laid the groundwork for the deals.
Of course, signing a first-choice goalkeeper has to be at the top of the summer wish list for Celtic. Hart is set to retire after three season of being the club's number one between the posts.
On the other hand, centre-back has been an area of worry as well, especially with Carter-Vickers' injury issues. Liam Scales has been the most active player in that position but many believe the club need to strengthen.
