Celtic have already made offer for 28-year-old goalkeeper
Celtic will need to sign a or possibly multiple goalkeepers in the summer. Joe Hart's departure is set in stone as he has already announced that he will be calling time on his career after the end of this season. Scott Bain's contract is also in its last few months while Benjamin Siegrist has been on the periphery of the squad since his arrival a couple of years back and has been linked with a move away for quite some time now.
So, the Celtic goalkeeping department could undergo a revamp next summer. And it looks like a Dutch goalkeeper, currently in the middle of a relegation struggle in the Eredivisie, is in their sights.
As reported by BD, RKC goalkeeper Etienne Vaessen could make optimal use of his free agent status this summer. There is now concrete interest from Celtic, but PSV also still has the 28-year-old in their sights. There is even an offer from Scotland, but we will have to wait a while for a decision from the player.
Vaessen is a 28-year-old Dutch goalkeeper currently playing for RKC Waalwijk, who are in the relegation play-off spot in the Eredivisie right now. His current deal runs out in the summer and an exit is looking likely.

It remains to be seen if Celtic end up managing to sign Vaessen. It is quite clear that they are interested in getting the deal done this summer.
While some fans might be confused by the interest, it does seem like Vaessen is a quality goalkeeper. Because Eredivisie table toppers, PSV Eindhoven, are believed to be interested in him as well.
So, there is no reason to write him off before we see him kick a ball in a Celtic shirt. And there is no reason to believe that the club want him as their number one either.
