Celtic agree personal terms with €10 million-plus player
Matt O'Riley is now officially a Brighton & Hove Albion player and with less than a week remaining in the summer transfer window, Celtic do not have a lot of time on their hands to find a replacement for the Danish international. They have been linked with a few exciting talents in recent days though and it looks like one of them is ready to move to Glasgow if a deal can be agreed upon.
The player in question is none other than Arne Engels. He currently plays for FC Augsburg and has made more than 50 appearances in the Bundesliga already despite being 20 years of age.
Engels ticks a lot of boxes that Celtic will surely look for when it comes to signing O'Riley's replacement. The Belgian midfielder has a lot of room for growth but already has a decent bit of experience under his belt at the same time.
As tweeted by Florian Plettenberg, Celtic are now pushing to sign Engels. Personal terms have been agreed and FC Augsburg are informed. But at this stage, no offer has arrived. The German club want the player to stay and are only willing to speak with top offers in the range of €10 million to €15 million.

One of the issues that Celtic face right now is that other clubs know that they need to replace O'Riley. Also, the £30 million transfer package that they received for the Danish midfielder's departure will also add a premium to any potential targets.
Let's see how things play out over the coming days. There is not much time left in the window so things will become clear soon.
Hopefully, Celtic are able to find a proper replacement for O'Riley. Of course, that will not be an easy task.
