Celtic accept loan offer for Brendan Rodgers signing
Celtic are closing in on their fifth signing of the summer, with Alex Valle looking set to join on loan from Barcelona. The Hoops have also signed Kasper Schmeichel and Viljami Sinisalo, while bringing back Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo on permanent deals after successful loan spells in the previous campaign.
Overall, while Celtic have not signed a lot of players this summer, they appear to have made solid additions. The same cannot be said about their transfer activity a year back.
Celtic made a number of 'project' signings last summer but none of them ended up establishing themselves as starters. The recruitment was especially disappointing at centre-back.
With Carl Starfelt leaving for Celta Vigo, they needed to find a new partner in defence for Cameron Carter-Vickers. Gustaf Lagerbielke and Maik Nawrocki were signed on permanent deals while Nat Phillips was brought in on loan from Liverpool. None of the three impressed.

Phillips returned to Liverpool last winter, having barely featured at Celtic. Now, it looks like it is time for another of the club's centre-back signings from last summer to depart, albeit on a temporary basis for now.
As tweeted by Anthony Joseph, FC Twente have had a loan offer accepted for Lagerbielke. They want him on a season-long loan to replace Robin Propper, who left for Rangers. They are leading the race over Heerenveen and Lecce.
Lagerbielke might have been signed with Brendan Rodgers as manager of the club but he never appeared to fit the system the Northern Irishman was trying to play. One has to raise questions about the recruitment, who clearly got it wrong.
It is very possible that the Swedish international goes on and does very well somewhere. But it is not working at Celtic and parting ways might be the best solution for everyone involved.
