Celtic told to pay €12 million fee for Portugal international
Most Celtic fans want the club to raise their ambitions when it comes to transfers. In recent times, the club have stuck to making 'project' signings and it has not worked out well for them. Only a few of them have made a real impact in the first-team while several others find themselves out on loan or being linked with permanent exits already.
The good news is that it seems that Celtic are eyeing more proven players this summer. At least that is what we can gather from all the transfer speculation around the club and the kind of names they are being linked with.
The club never really replaced Jota after he left last summer in order to join Al-Ittihad. Now, it looks like his namesake is on Celtic's radar and he is a full Portugal international.
Jota Silva of Vitoria Guimaraes is in the form of his life right now and has even represented the Portugal national team recently. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 7 assists in 35 appearances this season so far.
Celtic told to pay €12 million fee for Portugal international
Celtic are believed to be one of the many clubs interested in Silva. As reported by JN, Vitoria, at this moment, are aiming for at least €12 million to part with the winger.
That would be a club-record fee for Celtic. But not a figure that they could not reach, if they really wanted to sign Silva from Vitoria in the summer.
It might be tough convincing the player to come to Scotland though. It is believed that he is prioritising a move to one of the 'Big Five' European leagues. Of course, Celtic are a special club and perhaps that could work in their favour in any transfer race.
