It will be interesting to see which areas Celtic try to bring reinforcements in this summer. Signing a new goalkeeper is pretty much inevitable following the retirement of Joe Hart. They are expected to add another striker to their ranks as well. There has been speculation around the future of Oh Hyeon-gyu. On the other hand, let's see if the Hoops are able to find an agreement with Norwich City over a permanent transfer for Adam Idah following a successful loan spell.

There has been quite a bit of talk about signing another centre-back as well. The club signed Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke last summer but neither was successful in nailing down a spot in the starting XI.

Instead, it was Liam Scales who turned his Celtic career around and became a starter. There are many fans who believe that the club need to sign another centre-back to challenge him for the starting spot next season.

Could Celtic look towards the past in order to move forward in the future? There has been some rumours about Carl Starfelt possibly making a return to Parkhead this summer.

Carl Starfelt breaks silence amid Celtic return links

Starfelt left Celtic last summer, after two years at Parkhead, in order to join Celta Vigo in Spain. But there is already speculation around his future with the La Liga club even though he played quite a bit of football for them last season.

Judging from the Swedish centre-back's comments, he does not seem like someone looking to quit Celta Vigo though. As reported by the Daily Record, Starfelt told Fotbollskanalen:

"I was benched for three games near the end of the season. I think I showed in training that I was going to play. I didn't give up or hang up. Then I got the chance and did well. I don't give up."

So, it looks likely that Starfelt will remain at Celta Vigo. As for Celtic, one would expect them to strengthen in the priority positions first before trying to sign another centre-back, if they are indeed interested in doing so.
