Callum McGregor makes worrying claim about Celtic teammates
Celtic struggles continued with a 1-1 draw at Parkhead against Kilmarnock. The result means that the Rangers will go two points clear at the top of the table if they can win their game in hand this weekend. Such a situation would have seemed impossible even a few months ago but that is the reality for Brendan Rodgers' side, who have pretty much thrown a comfortable lead away in the league.
Considering how they have been performing in recent months, pretty much all season to be honest, it is hard to see how they will get back ahead to be honest. Even though the Rangers have not been great themselves, they have managed to string together wins. Celtic quite simply have not and do not seem capable.
The defence seems shaky with Cameron Carter-Vickers out injured. On the other hand, the forward line has failed to deliver all season although it does look like Kyogo has regained some of his form lately.
Celtic need to sort things out quickly if they are to remain in the title race. Some of Callum McGregor's recent comments will worry the fans though.
McGregor makes worrying claim about Celtic teammates
As reported by CeltsAreHere, McGregor said after the match:
"We have to find a way to communicate and make the players aware that when they go on the pitch, there’s a certain standard that’s required."
Also, he was asked whether the message of the level required was yet to hit home for some players and McGregor replied:
"When you keep finding yourself in this position, then maybe."
That does not sound positive, to be honest. If things don't change quickly, there might be no way back for Celtic this season.
Of course, one has to question the lack of ambition shown by the club in January even more now. They had the chance to freshen things up after what had been a disappointing first half of the season. Not only did they not do that but they were not even able to meet minimum expectations.
