There are plenty of positions where fans would like to see Celtic make some additions. Goalkeeper has to be near the top of that list. Joe Hart has been the club's first-choice for the past three seasons now and while the Englishman has done well, it might be time to find a replacement for him. Not only does his contract run out this summer but he will be turning 37 in April as well.

Andriy Lunin of Real Madrid and Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool are two high-profile goalkeepers Celtic have been linked with in recent times. Signing either would be very difficult though.

In case of Lunin, a move to Celtic seems unlikely after his brilliant performances in recent months for Real Madrid. On the other hand, rumours have suggested that Liverpool would want a £20 million transfer fee for Kelleher, which is more than twice of the Hoops' record.

So, Celtic might have to get creative. One interesting goalkeeper they have been linked with recently is Hakon Valdimarsson. The Iceland number one is headed to the Premier League though.

As reported by Brentford's official website, the club have completed the signing of Valdimarsson from Elfsborg. The goalkeeper has signed with the Bees until June 2028, and the club retains an option to extend his contract by an additional two years.

The figure they shelled out to sign him is well within Celtic's reach as well. As reported by The Athletic, Brentford agreed a transfer fee of around €3 million with Elfsborg to sign Valdimarsson.

That's another potential goalkeeper Celtic won't be able to sign now. It remains to be seen what they do in the summer. It is widely expected that the Hoops will bring in a new number one then. But the chances of Hart being handed a new deal cannot be completely ruled out either.
