Brendan Rodgers unhappy with Celtic issue since return
Celtic were believed to have brought in the best possible replacement for Ange Postecoglou when Brendan Rodgers arrived last summer for his second stint at Parkhead. We all know about the circumstances involving the Northern Irishman's earlier exit from the club back in 2019 and it was somewhat surprising that he was welcomed back with open arms by the majority of the support.
Unfortunately, the performances and results since then have been disappointing. And many fans believe that the time has come for Celtic to show Rodgers the exit door, as it is clearly not working.
To be very honest, Rodgers has not gotten the best out of the players available to him. It just does not look like he is setting up his team in a way that plays to the strengths of the squad. The Hoops won the treble last season and now they are struggling to convincingly win games against relegation contenders.
That being said, one cannot ignore the fact that Rodgers has not gotten proper backing from the club in both transfer windows. Especially frustrating was the winter one, when minimum expectations were not met, even after witnessing the shaky first half of the campaign and that has allowed the Rangers to take the lead in the league.
Rodgers unhappy with Celtic issue since return
As reported by Football Insider, Rodgers is unhappy with the transfer business at Celtic since his return to the club. The manager will expect more money to be made available if he stays for the 2024-25 campaign.
It remains to be seen how things play out between now and the end of the season. If Celtic finish trophyless, it is pretty likely that Rodgers would be shown the exit door by the club.
The issues lie deeper than just changing managers though. Celtic got very lucky with Ange Postecoglou. Most would struggle to deliver at Parkhead.
