Celtic have had some terrible luck this season when it comes to injuries. Several of their important players have dealt with constant fitness issues throughout the course of the campaign, which has resulted in Brendan Rodgers' squad being weakened significantly. There does seem to be some positive news on the injury front.

One of the players who has dealt with injury problems all season is Cameron Carter-Vickers. Naturally, alarm bells started ringing when he was left out of the squad in their recent game against Livingston with a fitness issue.

Most fans feared the worst and were prepared for Carter-Vickers to spend another spell out on the sidelines. But now, it looks like he could be back much sooner than expected, perhaps even this weekend.

Rodgers has confirmed the brilliant news for Celtic. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said about the status of Carter-Vickers:

"We've had the scan which has come through fine, he's done some work with the medical team and hopefully he will rejoin the training squad on Thursday and Friday."

So, it looks like it was not a serious matter for Carter-Vickers and he should be back on the pitch. It remains to be seen whether he features at the weekend or Rodgers decides not to risk a further injury ahead of the international break.

Carter-Vickers is the best defender that Celtic have. He has been constantly in and out of the team this season though, due to injury problems. That is one of the major reasons why the Hoops have struggled to find any consistency in recent times.

Hopefully, there will be no injury problems for Carter-Vickers between now and the end of the campaign. With two trophies still to play for, the Premiership and the Scottish Cup, Celtic need to finish the season strong and they will need their best players available to do that. The American international certainly falls under that category.
