Everybody will remember how Brendan Rodgers' first reign at Celtic had ended. The Northern Irishman had left in the middle of the season to take the Leicester City job, a move that did not go down well with the supporters. It was actually a bit of a surprise that he was welcomed back with open arms by the majority of the fans last summer.

There was the recognition though that he was the best option available to replace Ange Postecoglou. Several months on, that view might have changed.

Celtic have not got it going under the management of Rodgers. They saw the Rangers lift the Scottish League Cup earlier in the season and the Ibrox club have now been successful in cutting down a significant lead in the league and are level on points with the Hoops.

On the other hand, there are now question marks over the future of the manager. And as reported by Football Insider, Rodgers could quit Celtic if he was offered another Premier League job.

It would be safe to say that fans would not be happy if Rodgers left under similar circumstances once again. That being said, it would perhaps be more understandable this time around.

Rodgers quite certainly has not got much backing from the club this season. Key starters like Jota and Carl Starfelt left in the summer and no genuine replacements were brought int. A lot was expected in the winter transfer window but the best Celtic could deliver was signing Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna and bringing in Adam Idah on loan from Norwich City until the end of the campaign.

Thus, it is easy to see why this is not the ideal situation for someone like Rodgers to be in, who is already under pressure to prove himself. Let's see what the future holds.
