Brendan Rodgers offers triple Celtic injury update
Celtic were nowhere near their best against Ross County but they did show the belief of champions. After going a goal down, Brendan Rodgers' side were able to turn the game around. Alistair Johnston, who has had fitness issues lately, was the one who brought things level. Then Nicolas Kuhn, arguably the club's best player so far in the 24/25 campaign, scored a late winner.
The result means that Celtic will go into the international break on a positive note. That was the most important thing after the result in midweek against Borussia Dortmund.
In many ways, this international break comes at the right time for Celtic. It allows the players to refresh their minds a bit and put the 7-1 defeat behind them.
It will also allow some players, who are carrying fitness issues, the chance to rest up. That includes regular starters like Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor. While the Canadian international featured against Ross County, the latter two were not available on the day.
Brendan Rodgers offers triple Celtic injury update
Rodgers provided an update on the defensive trio ahead of the international break. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic manager said:
"Hopefully they'll be back. Ali won't go with the international team, so that gives us a chance to recover him. Because he's been working very well. Cam will be joining training later on in this week and then have a good week leading into Aberdeen. So that's good. Greg will just have to wait and see.
“But on that I thought young Alex Valle had done well today. Especially the second half, his positioning was a little bit better. But Greg, we hope he'll be back. If he's not for Aberdeen, then not long after that."
Even though Johnston featured against Ross County, he won't be involved in the upcoming international break for Canada. He is believed to be dealing with a back issue.
On the other hand, Carter-Vickers has been out of action for a few weeks with a toe injury. It will be good to have him back available as soon as possible. His absence was one of the main reasons why the Hoops struggled defensively against Borussia Dortmund.
Taylor is an important player as well. But in his absence, Alex Valle has been showing some positive signs, especially going up the pitch. So, there might be some competition in the left-back spot.
