Things never stay still at Celtic. There is always something or the other going on. Most of the headlines in recent times have been about the club's inconsistent form or their long list of injuries. But it looks like there is one key figure who could head out of the Parkhead exit door in the near future and it is not a player.

Many fans were left surprised when Harry Kewell did not leave the club alongside Ange Postecoglou earlier in the summer. But now, it looks like there is interest in the Celtic coach.

Kewell has already had several managerial roles at clubs like Crawley Town, Notts County, Barnet and Oldham Athletic. He could be closing in on his most high-profile job yet though.

Rumours coming out of Japan have suggested that Kewell is the top contender to be the next Yokohama F. Marinos manager. It has already been announced that Kevin Muscat is leaving the J-League side, which was once managed by Postecoglou as well.

Brendan Rodgers confirms recent Celtic exit rumours

Rodgers has been very open about the matter and confirmed that there is interest in Kewell. As reported by the Daily Record, the Celtic manager told Sky Sports:

"I spoke to Harry about it after the game the other night and I am not sure how far down the road it is. He is still very much working here but there is a level of interest in him which does not surprise me because he is a talented guy."

Rodgers also won't be standing in Kewell's way if he wants to leave Celtic. The Northern Irish manager further added:

"We will see what evolves from that over the next few days. He has already managed before, so it is not new to him. He has had a taste of it and I am always one that if staff members want to broaden their horizons then I am very encouraging of that. It is also a sign that you have talented people if other clubs want them."

It is not hard to understand why the Yokohama F. Marinos job could be interesting to Kewell. In the past, he has only managed in the lower divisions. But now, this could be his chance to manage a top-flight club and compete for trophies. Both Postecoglou and Muscat won silverware with them.

Of course, Kewell leaving would come as a major blow to Celtic. And they would need to bring in a replacement for the highly-rated Australian coach if he did indeed depart Parkhead.
