Celtic's January transfer window has been a lot less busy than most people had anticipated. When the club were struggling a few weeks back, it was looking like multiple additions were going to be made and there were clear calls for strengthening. But as their form has improved lately, including a Glasgow Derby win, it looks like there is no longer that level of urgency around Parkhead.

On the contrary, most of the concrete rumours in recent times have been regarding exits. Yuki Kobayashi and Yosuke Ideguchi are both believed to be closing in on exits.

Neither has managed to establish themselves at Celtic Park and could head back to Japan. And Rocco Vata could join them out the exit door.

As tweeted by Fabrizio Romano, Bologna are interested in Vata as a potential opportunity for the January transfer window. Talks are expected to take place soon.

To be honest, Vata's situation at Celtic has confused many. He has been a standout performer at the B team level for quite some time.

He has not made a single appearance for the senior team since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers though. The reason behind that is not really clear.

Vata's current contract runs out next summer. So he is set to leave Celtic, whether that be this month or at the end of the season, because an extension seems pretty much impossible under the current circumstances.

Vata leaving would not be a good look for Celtic to be honest. There has been a lot of talk about the club failing to promote their youngsters to the senior team in recent years. The last one to make a proper impact in the first-team was Kieran Tierney and he left the club back in 2019.
