Bayern Munich's appointment of Vincent Kompany as manager certainly raised plenty of eyebrows across the world of football. The Belgian failed to avoid Premier League relegation last season but has ended up at one of the best clubs on the planet in its aftermath. And one of his early decisions seems set to have a negative impact on Celtic's transfer plans this summer.

Celtic are looking for a new number one between the posts following the retirement of Joe Hart. The club have Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain but neither of them is expected to be handed that responsibility.

Celtic have been linked with a long list of goalkeepers in recent times. Amongst them is Bayern Munich's Daniel Peretz.

Unfortunately for Celtic, it looks like he will be staying on in Bavaria. As tweeted by Florian Plettenberg, Peretz will remain at Bayern Munich. Kompany has made it clear that he wants him to stay. He will now compete with Sven Ulreich for the number two spot.

Someone like Peretz could have been an interesting signing for Celtic. But it looks like such a move is completely off the table and the Hoops will have to look elsewhere for their next goalkeeper.

Fortunately, it looks like Celtic have a long transfer wish list when it comes to the goalkeeper position, filled with all sorts of player profiles. One can only hope that they get the recruitment right and bring in someone capable of carrying the first-team gloves from the off.

Nobody wants a repeat of the Vasilis Barkas situation from a few years back. A repeat of that mistake could have a negative impact on the team from the very beginning of the campaign. With Siegrist also expected to leave, it might be safer if Celtic brought in a couple of goalkeepers to compete for the starting spot.
