Celtic do not have a great record in recent years when it comes to promoting their youth standouts to the senior team. That has resulted in a number of them departing the club before ever making a real impact at Parkhead. Many have gotten lost in the shuffle after leaving while others, like Ben Doak, have shown their quality elsewhere as well.

Celtic recently put in their most convincing performance of the season, winning 7-1 against Dundee FC. One of the goalscorers on the day for the Hoops was Daniel Kelly.

He was brought in at the break, replacing Callum McGregor and managed to impress supporters with his display. And with there being question marks over the captain's fitness ahead of the game against Hearts, could Kelly get more minutes this weekend?

Celtic do not have a ton of depth in midfield right now, with David Turnbull leaving in the winter while Reo Hatate continues to deal with injuries. Other than Kelly, Paulo Bernardo and Odin Thiago Holm are other possible options to come into the team if McGregor misses the Tynecastle Stadium visit.

The midfielder is drawing a ton of high-profile interest as well. As reported by the Daily Mail (via The Scottish Sun), Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig are interested in signing Kelly. Clubs in England are also monitoring his situation.

Kelly's current deal with Celtic is believed to be running out at the end of this year. One can only hope that the club are able to agree an extension with him soon. Otherwise, do not be surprised if he leaves in the summer.

One way to convince Kelly that his future lies at Parkhead would be handing him more consistent playing time moving forward. The display against Dundee FC cannot end up being a one-off appearance.
