Celtic are on the lookout for their next goalkeeper, with Joe Hart set to retire at the end of the season. While there are two trophies still up for grabs, one eye will already be on the upcoming summer transfer window as well. Naturally, the club have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent months.

One player who is rumoured to be on their radar is Patrick Pentz. The Austrian international is currently on loan at Brondby IF from Bayer Leverkusen.

The 27-year-old has had an up-and-down career. But after failing to establish himself at Reims and Bayer Leverkusen, he has finally found his feet while on loan at Brondby IF and his performances have seemingly been enough to catch the eye of Celtic, if the rumours are indeed accurate.

What does the future hold for Pentz though? He still has a year left on his deal at Bayer Leverkusen after this season. But would he want to leave Brondby IF, where he has a settled role?

While Pentz does not seem sure about his future, it is clear that he feels right at home where he is. As reported by Salzburger Nachrichten, when asked about what will happen after this season, the goalkeeper said:

"I get asked this question in interviews every week. My contract in Leverkusen runs until summer 2025, so I can't decide entirely on my own what happens next. My full focus is currently on the title fight and I will give everything for the club until the end. I feel very comfortable in Copenhagen: the club, the city and the people just suit me perfectly."

Thus, it sounds like Pentz happy at Brondby IF. But at the same time, the career path of a profsssional footballer is always uncertain.

It is very possible that better opportunities come knocking in the summer. If a club like Celtic do come calling and agree a deal with Bayer Leverkusen, would Pentz turn it down?

At 27 years of age, he could be a long-term solution for Celtic in goal, something they have not had for a while. But there are other, more high-profile options, believed to be on the club's radar as well. Let's see what happens.
